If you believe you are in the wrong plan due to an en-rollment error or being given wrong information, you may be allowed to make a change.

If you have been in a Medicare Advantage (HMO or PPO) plan since the beginning of the year, a change can be made once from January 1 through the end of March.

You can switch to a different Medicare Advantage plan or go back to original Medicare and a drug plan, and add a Medicare plan, if you want.

You may also be able to change plans if you’re a Prescription Advantage member, if you’re getting Extra Help with your Medicare drug coverage, if you’ve have recently moved, or for other reasons.

Trained SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Everyone…on Medicare) volunteers offer free, confidential counseling on these issues and all Medicare options. Due to COVID-19, counseling is being done by phone. To schedule a SHINE appointment, call your local Senior Center.

For other SHINE related matters, call 1-800-AGE-INFO (1-800-243-4636), then press or say 3. Once you get the SHINE answering machine, leave your name, town and phone number.
