Virtual: Immigration Policy Updates and the Work Ahead: An Introductory Series
Monday, May 8, 2023
Immigration Policy Updates and the Work Ahead: It can be challenging to stay current with the ever-changing landscape of immigration policy. Panelists will hold a discussion on some of the changes that have occurred over the past year and what MIRA Coalition’s advocacy is focused on for the future.
The Ashland Library is happy to partner with The Reading Public Library and the MIRA Coalition to offer a 3-part series to present relevant, up-to-date, and accurate information on immigration topics, open to all individuals who would like to increase their knowledge of immigration-related topics and learn about helpful resources for practice with immigrant populations. You may register for all three sessions, or choose individual sessions. Zoom information will be shared with registration.
Future sessions will cover the following topics:
ABCs of Immigration, April 10 @7pm
Rights and Benefits for Immigrants, April 24 @7pm
MIRA was founded in 1987 in response to the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, which allowed 3–5 million undocumented immigrants to become permanent residents. The goal was to not only advocate for the rights and integration of those immigrants, but also build a diverse, member-driven coalition to advance the interests of all foreign-born people.
The Reading Public Library is hosting this event with a coalition of libraries from throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Ashland Public Library.
