Great Decisions - Discuss Global Famine
Thursday, September 21, 2023
If you are curious, have passionate opinions about politics, social and cultural norms, historical precedents and national and foreign policy, the Great Decisions Discussion Program created by the Foreign Policy Association of America is the perfect discussion group for you.
The Great Decisions program is designed to be like a book group: participants read the same material and then meet to have an informal discussion.
Topic for this discussion: Global Famine
Fears of global food shortages have followed Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which has disrupted grain shipments from the major grain producer. But what about countries and regions that were suffering before this impending shortage? How is famine defined, and how is it different from simple food shortages? What if any remedies are there?
