Virtual - What's on Your TBR pile? with author Lynne Damianos *For Adults

Wednesday, August 17, 2022

We're thrilled with this monthly series - What's On Your TBR Pile? - with some of our favorite authors! TBR is "to be read" and we all have stacks we know we can't read in our lifetime. But, with a little help from our favorite authors, we can refine or (goodness!) add to our piles. Today we hear from local author Lynne Damianos - a writer, a photographer, a publisher, oh my! Wonder what she's read and loved lately? Join us!

The way it works - we'll spend some time with Lynne hearing all about her favorite books and authors. Then, we'll have a few minutes to hear all about her latest and upcoming projects - it's a total win-win for us! Bring a pen and paper, you'll be wanting to write down all of Lynne's recs.

About Gail

While in elementary school, Lynne co-published a mimeographed neighborhood newsletter. She loved connecting all the parts – the project management aspect that brought together content, imagery, printing, marketing and delivery. After receiving her BS in Photography from Rochester Institute of Technology, Lynne continued her editorial work for years as editor of a professional photographic trade publication.

Lynne continued to be called upon as a resource for a variety of publications. She published her first book, The Bancroft Building and Its People in 2010 to document and celebrate the history and images of characters in her studio mill building. This project led a similar book with a more extensive history, The Saxonville Mills: Three Centuries of Industry in Framingham where she teamed up with an historical researcher and author. A third book, “The Naked Truth About Aging” includes her photographs and candid conversations with aging men and women. Her latest book The Bancroft Building: Where History Meets Modern Living combines a biography of R.H. Long and the complete history of this mill, which is now an apartment complex.

After learning the pitfalls to avoid and the details necessary to produce an engaging and quality book, Lynne realized she’d be a great resource for authors looking to publish their own books. Her vision of a hybrid publishing company emerged . . . one that would offer a la carte services tailored to each author, not preset packages that didn’t offer enough or included more than needed. She launched Damianos Publishing in 2012, aligning the firm with specialists in design, editing, marketing, plus a world-class book printer/distributor with over a century of experience. Lynne has now published over 60 books.
