Virtual: JOB SEARCH HELP -- 5 Ways To Outsmart Ageism During The Job Search
Monday, September 26, 2022
The waves of career competition are advancing as employees experience layoffs and irrelevant job titles. The competition is acute for mid-careerists, those in the second stage of their careers. Older individuals in search of work are awakening to the inevitable organizational preference for younger, tech-enabled, lower-salaried workers.
According to an AARP study, 64% of individuals between 45-74 have witnessed or experienced age discrimination in the work environment. However, there are number of strategies to outsmart the discriminatory systems and hiring managers to land on the short list of viable candidates.
While you cannot control hiring practices, let’s review 5 ways you can counteract exclusionary practices in the job search process. Led by Marti Konstant, a workplace futurist and the best-selling author of Activate Your Agile Career. Konstant has an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and is a former technology executive that has worked in Silicon Valley. As a Top Career Influencer, she has been featured in media outlets such as NBC Chicago, Forbes, and The Muse, and has worked in companies like Samsung, Dow Jones and Apple.
