Virtual: How to Break into Movies and Television *For Teens and Adults

Have you ever wondered how you or someone you love could break into movies or TV? Or, have you ever wondered how it happens for someone? If you said Yes to either of these questions, this program is for you! Join Lenny Manzo (author, producer, director) for a presentation and discussion on the how, why, who, what, where of getting into show business!

This presentation is designed to inform those interested about the different paths and strategies on how to break into the movie and television industry. The lecture offers a wealth of knowledge in regard to navigating your way into the entertainment industry. It advises and guides the prospective student to formulate a plan to figure out a direction to pursue.

Upon attending the How-to Break-in lecture, the prospective star will have a much clearer understanding of the structure of the industry, how it works and be able to make a more calculated choice for a potential career in movies and television.


Lenny Manzo has been in movie production for over 30 years, with over 10 years of experience in higher education at Emerson College. He has spent most of that time as a producer, director and writer on a variety of projects. Mr. Manzo began his career as a sound mixer working on movies, TV, commercials, music videos and corporate. Besides the audio department he has worked in multiple departments including, camera, lighting, grip and art department. He is the rare jack-of-all-trades in a business that is more focus driven. Mr. Manzo took a hiatus from production to write and publish his first book, Above the Line, in 2011. In the same year he was asked to work at Emerson College to head Production and to create the all-new Film and Media Safety Department in the Visual and Media Arts Department. During his time at Emerson, he produced safety movies, created other content for the college and oversaw 3,000 student productions per school year. Mr. Manzo is currently working as a consultant and is in the process of starting his own production company, which will open its doors in 2023.
