Out of control development results in a net loss to the number of trees in Ashland. I would like to see a new by-law that creates a "Replace a Tree" fund. If you cut down a tree, you have to pay into the fund to replace it. Cut a small tree; pay a small amount. Cut a large tree; pay a large amount.
Climate change is a very real and very serious problem. Allowing even a single tree to be cut down without replacing it makes no sense. Let's institute a by-law that ensures we will maintain the number of trees in Ashland no matter how much new development occurs.

It would be great to reduce the use of plastic. I think Ashland should think about a ban on plastic bags for it's businesses. Thank you,
John

Currently there are sidewalks from Cordaville Road up Oak Street to around Heritage Ave. I would love to see these extended north to Oregon Road.

The shredded tire mulch at both KidSpot as well as the Warren School playgrounds should be replaced with wood mulch. In addition to health concerns associated with the numerous chemicals in shredded tires, the odor of the shredded tire during warmer months is intolerable. Several online reviews of kidspot mention the shredded tire mulch as problematic and I personally do not use these playgrounds due to the shredded tire. It would be a benefit to the community as a whole to replace the tire mulch with wood. Surely this is not a difficult thing to do. Thank you.
