2026 ANNUAL TOWN ELECTION – VOTE BY MAIL INFORMATION

- Ballots can only be MAILED - you may not pick up a ballot.
- Ballots are generally available for mailing 2-3 weeks prior to an election.

DEADLINES TO APPLY FOR AN EARLY VOTE-BY-MAIL BALLOT
Applications for ballots to be mailed to a voter must be received by the Town Clerk by 5PM on the 5th business day before an election. The deadline to apply for a ballot for the May 19, 2026 Annual Town Election is 5:00 PM on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. We recommend applying earlier than the deadline as the US Postal delivery services are not consistent and can range from 3 to 11 days.
The deadline to register to vote is Friday, May 8th @ 5:00 PM. You may register online here.
SUBMITTING YOUR VOTE-BY-MAIL APPLICATION:

RETURN OF VOTE-BY-MAIL BALLOTS:
Mailed ballots, for Annual Town Election, includes a postage pre-paid return ballot envelope that is addressed to the Town Clerk's Office. You may return your ballot by mail (please see deadlines below) or hand deliver your ballot by placing it in the drop box outside of the Town Hall (deadline is close of polls on Election Day).
Ballots can NOT be returned to the polling location on Election Day - they must be returned to the ballot drop box located at the Town Hall. Your returned ballot on Election Day will be processed and brought to the polls to be cast by the Town Clerk’s staff.
Voters who receive a vote by mail ballot but have not returned it prior to Election Day may appear to vote in person and cast a ballot on Election Day. Any voter that has returned a vote by mail ballot (or voted early in person) is NOT permitted to vote in person on Election Day.
DEADLINES FOR BALLOTS TO BE RETURNED AND COUNTED:
Annual Town Election (May 18, 2026):
- Ballots returned in the secure ballot drop box must be received by7PM on May 19, 2026.
- Ballots returned by mail must be RECEIVED by May 19, 2026. A postmark is not sufficient.
Please note that US Postal delivery services are not consistent and can range from 3 to 11 days. We recommend voters return their ballots in the drop box outside of the town offices by the close of polls on Election Day to ensure it is counted.
