Some of you might know me from my 10 years working at WACA, Ashland’s community media station, while others may have no idea who I am—so, hi! My name is Alison, and I’m beyond excited to be running the Boston Marathon again, this time to raise funds for the BAA Grant Fund, which supports essential programs in Ashland. This has been a dream of mine ever since I used grant money to host summer movie nights at the CornerSpot with WACA, where we showed classic films like Jaws and Ghostbusters—a fun way to bring the community together!
This will be my 6th marathon and my second time running Boston. My first experience in 2019 was extra special because I ran alongside my sister to raise money for Mass Eye and Ear, an organization that’s close to my heart. I have an autoimmune disease that affects my eyes, and supporting Mass Eye and Ear was a personal way to give back.
Now, I’m thrilled to be running the marathon again with my sister and raising funds for the BAA Grant Fund to support vital community programs in Ashland. My fundraising goal is $3,000, which will directly benefit local organizations and initiatives. The funds raised will support critical programs in Ashland, including emergency financial assistance, youth and family services, community enrichment activities, senior outreach, public safety initiatives, and the food pantry—all aimed at strengthening and uplifting our community.
Though I miss working in Ashland every day, I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to give back to the town that helped shape me. Every donation—big or small—makes a real difference in the lives of Ashland residents.
