Union & Fountain Street Water Main Replacement Project

DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS

PROJECT NOTICE

UNION FOUNTAIN WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT

IMPROVING YOUR WATER SYSTEM

Pipeline replacement work results in improved water flows and reliability in the pipeline and more efficient operation of our system.  As a water customer, your benefit is the assurance that water pressure as well as essential fire protection, will always be maintained. Ashland has contracted with RFS Corp. out of Brockton, MA for this project. We anticipate the work to start on Monday September 22, 2025 and continue for two months.

 HOW WILL THIS AFFECT YOU?

While the work is in progress, all customers along the route will be provided with a temporary water supply since the water main must be taken out of service for replacement work.  The temporary water service will be in place for the duration of the project. The temporary connection to your service will be made underground at the roadway sideline (property line) from temporary pipelines laid alongside the roadway sideline on each side of the street.  This will require your water to be shut off for a short duration, less than an hour, to make the connection. The Contractor will be reaching out to each customer to schedule a time to make the connection. We will make every effort to ensure that your normal water service is maintained at all times. While connected to the temporary water service, the water temperature in the temporary pipe and hose may increase during hot days. Please run the water in your sink to flush the warm water from the hose prior to utilizing the water for consumption.

 PLEASE WATCH YOUR STEP

You will notice ramps installed at each driveway and trenches across side streets to accommodate the bypass pipelines.   Every possible safety precaution will be taken, and all work areas will be barricaded and carefully marked to prevent injury.  You can help by cautioning your family and friends to watch their step and avoid the work areas as much as possible.
